If f(x) is differentiable we can obtain f'(x). But if f'(x) is also a differentiable function on x we can differentiate it and get its derivative which is called the second derivative of f(x) and is denoted by f''(x). By continuing the procedure if possible, we get third and higher-order derivatives and denote them by f'''(x). Similarly, we can differentiate this function further it is differentiable on x, this is called Successive Differentiation. Successive Differentiation problems are divided into the following 3 categories:

  • Class A: In this class, we will solve problems based on direct applications of nth derivative of a standard function.

  • Class B: We will use Demoivre’s theorem along with the concept of partial fractions and the use of nth derivative of standard functions.

  • Class C: We will now solve problems based on Leibnitz theorem in which we will find expression for nth derivative of U*V
